How is a measurement initated with a Leica Disto Plus?
Once the instrument is turned on, You need to press the large red button with a triangle twice. The first button press will cause the laser beam to become visible so you can point the beam at the object that the distance is to be measured from. The second button press will acquire the distance and display it on the LCD Screen.

On the Disto Plus there are three location that measurement can be set to be taken from. The default position is from the rear of the instrument. The second position is from the front the instrument. The third position is just a between the rear of the instrument and the location the vertical suface.
